This blog was started to chronicle the experiences of two UGA faculty – Kim Skobba, from the Department of Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics, and David Berle, from the Department of Horticulture, and George Wright, a local residential contractor, and 13 students enrolled in our Fall 2015 course on tiny houses and green residential construction. Once again, we are with Georgia Organics to build a house to be placed on a small organic farm in Georgia as part of their Farmer Growth & Sustainability Initiative.
This fall (August 2016) will begin building our second house. Using lessons learned from the first year, and working with a new group of 15 students, we continue to explore the possibilities for tiny house construction and perhaps learn a little something along the way. Follow us as we start with a bare trailer and build a tiny house over the semester.

This is wonderful! Y’all need to contact me for your next trailer. I’m the VP of Tennessee Trailers, Inc., a trailer manufacturing company outside of Chattanooga. I’m also a proud alumnus of the University of Georgia (Franklin College ’06). We launched our own tiny house trailer line about almost a year ago and they extremely well designed and have some really unique features to speed up build time. I’m very excited to see my alma mater take on tiny homes and green construction! Go Dawgs!
