This week’s task was putting up the walls. That meant cutting up some 2x4s. One side of the house had walls that were 78 and 1/8″, and the other was 98 and 1/4″. We learned a new trick for marking off measurements: Make your mark, then draw two diagonal lines upwards from it, making a “V”, and then draw your cut line down the middle of the V. Today we didn’t use the blue table-saw — we used a handheld circular saw instead. It was tricky to use at first and I kept pinching the blade with both sides of the 2X4 and getting it stuck. But after about an hour of practice, I had it down. And the walls went up!
