Hey everyone my name is Victoria and I’ll be gracing you with my writing today. If you didn’t read the last post, we took an awesome field trip to a tiny home and a geodesic dome…home! First of all, what college class goes on field trips? We obviously have the best instructors teaching our class. In the last blog post Dr. Berle showed everyone what the geodesic dome looked like “while in progress”. The picture below is the geodesic dome while “still in progress-yet almost done” phase:

The owners of the dome, Mr. Fortuna and Ms. Sara Cross, were so nice to welcome us into their home and we thank you guys for that! One of the coolest things I learned was that Mr. Fortuna built the dome by himself (his brother came from Florida once or twice) but other than that he constructed this masterpiece alone. They also had well wishes written all over the interior framing from friends and family which made the home more personalized.

We also got to see a REAL tiny home which was so perfect for us to observe so we can get ideas of how we want to design the rest of ours. Dr. Peter Hartel was nice enough to let us see his hand-made tiny home he spent long and tiring months on to make sure it was perfect.

All in all I think our field trip was a success and it was very inspiring to see how people constructed their green homes and how they made it their own. Now were off to electrifying the home next Tuesday, so stayed tuned! 🙂
